Other than the cost VS small improvements... The T5 and T7 systems can be fooled by some of these products. The plasma conductivity across the spark gap increases and the ECU interprets that as an increase in conditions that promote knock. So in some cases, the power can be reduced, not increased.
We have not seen "Dr. Boost" post here for a long time. If I recall accurately, he claimed that these were tested in a Saab dyno lab and the results were negative. You can probably find that thread by searching in this BB.
