I did nothing but replace the calipers & pads on my 1990 SPG (w/ ABS). Works great... The ABS isn't terribly smart - I doubt the increase in brake performance could have any negative impact in normal usage. It may have some impact on the computer's ability to modulate the brakes, but I honestly don't know how the modulation timing is controlled. I figure plenty o' people put big brakes on their car without making changes to the ABS system - a 20 year old ATE system shouldn't have any issues.
Just remember that the larger piston size translates directly to larger fluid volume, and that means more pedal travel to make the brakes brake. I didn't notice anything on the ABS car since the ABS pump takes up the slack, but it's a tangible increase in pedal travel on non-ABS cars.
John N is right though - good pads with 9000 brakes gives a c900 a remarkable amount of stopping power. Maybe not enough for hardcore racing, but they held up beautifully to the 8 hours of constant running at rhe LeMons race.
