Hi,
Sure, the 15T has it's limitations, but with a good IC and sufficient fuel, it's fine for 300 hp. Check out the new 300 hp kit from Hirsch, that runs a 15T #5 (together with the new '06 Aero inlet pipe/cobra). That kit delivers 300 hp according to German TÜV (that do NOT play around...) and is OK at altitude in Switzerland. A 15T #6 with similar IC, inlet pipe, proper fuelling etc. is perfectly fine for 300 hp even in warm climate.
The warm climate itself is not really the issue, as long as you have the other hardware needed and a proper S/W. Sure, moving to an 18T compressor will put you more in the "very safe zone" and is, of course, an even better choice. Spool-up will be some 300 rpm slower than the 15T. My point is that the 15T WILL work for 300 hp on a 9-5 Aero, and in a very cost effective manner. I, and several of my friends, have run quite a bit above 300 hp on our previous 9000 Aeros... :-)
I personally ended up with a 19T #6, which I feel is a good compromise between bolt-on install, spool-up and top end power.
Best regards,
KK
