Hi,
Well, it's always a trade-off. Personally, I say the driveability of the 18T #6 is far superior to any smaller GTBB I've tried. I installed one in my '03 9-5 Aero, and like I mentioned earlier, spool-up is up appr. 300 rpm compared to stock 15T #5, i.e. more or less identical. On my current 2-litre setup I have decent response from 2.000 rpm, good boost build-up around 2.500 rpm and maximum torque available from 3.000 rpm. It then just keeps pulling, with peak output just over 6.000 rpm. That's with very mild T5 camshafts, i.e nothing fancy. Marvellous alround performer, at least for a family car... :-)
If I were to go with a GTBB, which I am considering (enough is never enough, right?), I'd go with the GT28RS (0,64 A/R), with a full 3" downpipe mated to the 5-bolt GT outlet, and a full 2,5" silicone 90-degree inlet. It's tiiiiiight, but supposedly possible. The GTBB's I've tried that are restricted by smaller in- or outlets than they were designed to have all feel either laggish or restricted at the top end. If you don't want compromises, then make sure to install it the way it was designed to be installed. Full inlet, full outlet. Also, stay away from the 0,86 A/R, especially on the GT28RS.
Well, that's my 2 cents.
Best regards,
KK
