A shock is really a damper - it damps the movement of the springs. When you put in stiffer springs = you need a stronger shock to control them. The KYB's are OK for stock springs but they don't have the guts to control the stiffer springs.
Also, when I upgraded my ARB, I immediately noticed that I had to adjust the Konis. I'm not sure if you are talking the front on the rear bar, but the effects can be the same. I noticed that my rear bar stiffened that end on the corners but the effect was to transfer more force/load in the front (expected). I needed to up the damping to make the car handle right again. Fortunately with the Koni's, it's just a 60 second adjustment.
Honestly, I don't know how anyone balances these cars without adjustable Konis!
