I agree with you derf that Brembo does have avery good reputation and do not dispute that. But again, their products are aimed at regular driving or performance....not vehicles that are used like my car nor benders'.....we don't drive our cars that much and bender even stores his for the winter. The latter might even make his risk of severe rusting less extreme.
Can you quantify your comment so I too can learn? How do you use your car?
My Viggen lives outside and is not used sometimes for up to 10 days. Rotors are bare steel and they all rust. But my experience has been that Brembos REALLY rust, to the point that the pads no longer clean them. They pit and then they flake and they need to be replaced.
There are alway trade-offs and in the case of brakes its performance vs. wear vs, cost vs.noise, etc. I guess you could use more aggressive pads to improve the cleaning off of rust but again, IMO unless you have some special needs, OEM represents the best trade-offs.
Bender....all I've read would make me believe that the Aero rotors are the same except for the slots. I also agree, the Viggen should have slots even if just for appearance! Hard to think that Mercedes and BMW are slotting and cross-drilling just for image sake??? I too will have to do some research to learn.....
