Interesting Roger! I too get the same code on occasions in my 2002 9-3 Aero. I am running a custom Stage 4 Nordic tune and even have the rear o2 sensor turned off via T7Suite.
I find i usually get the code after maybe driving for an hour and it only pops on at cruise (i.e. very little throttle and definitely no boost). Car doesn't default to limp home and performance is not affected at all. Very weird. I pulled the cat and that was all OK, so I am thinking it has to do with the fact that the cat is too high flowing and when the sensor records is too fast or too much information.
I am running a GS 3" DP and high flow car with 3" s/s abbott racing exhaust.
I usually just pull the two fuses in fuse box to rest (fuses 26 and 28 if I can recall).
Watching your testing with the anti fouler with interest!
Are you running a tune? What about diff downpipe etc?
