Distributor Vacuum Advance modification Q's..... Posted by vsfoxe [Email] (#1025) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vsfoxe) on Tue, 18 Jan 2011 20:07:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
'87 900 Turbo distributor 0 237 507 007, with advance arm stamped 2965. It's a spare, and it's on my bench. I will replace the internal oil seal and external sealing ring. I've got an extra Hall Sensor plug so I will make this thing compatible with my '90 & '91 SPGs (stock distributors both -010). Would there be any improvement in the vacuum advance operation if I was to remove 1/32" (.0625") from the arm where it contacts the "stop"? Current gap is about .032", so if I dremel it, the total gap would be about .095". I hadn't planned on adding springs, or changing the timing, and everything is currently stock (one car has a 3.0 FPR). Would opening up the gap improve anything? Too much? Not worth it? I'd appreciate suggestions or opinions. Better off to mod. an extra APC? Thanks. Vern
