When the arm contacts the stop it's limiting retard not advance. The magic number to remove is .040". 1/32" (.03125" not .0625") isn't enough and .0625" would be too much unless you were at a very high altitude. Remember that the biggest problem with these is that they retard too quickly, pretty much all at once so removing X from the arm where it contacts the stop doesn't address the real problem! My modified units have the arm machine -.040" and I go to a much stronger spring than even an 010 distributor's ignition module uses to get the retard curve right.
