The base timing map should generally reflect the total timing you want to see at a given engine speed and load. I haven't used an SDS but I would bet that you can choose different parameters for the axes of your timing map.
I would make your basic map more or less what you expect the engine to want at a given RPM at WOT and keep the MAP sensor compensators all zero, then use those to adjust what you want the timing to do at any given RPM.
That way it will be much easier to see if you need to add or pull timing at any given cell, rather than looking at lists of -10 -10 -12 -12 -12.... etc.
