My car is a '96 9000 CS fpt automatic 185,000 miles with Saab exhaust system. The system is long in the tooth from the Cat back. I'm thinking about going 3" cat back with no resonator and a Magnaflow 12578 muffler (5" x 11" oval, 22" long, 3" inlet/outlet, straight-through design, offset in and out). Then maybe get a Stage 2 tune at most.
I've read everything I can find here and on the 9K board about Magnaflow, Dynomax, etc. The impression I get is that most prefer the sound of the Magnaflow. I realize this is a subjective topic, and I don't want to start a controversy. I just want to be reasonably sure that the resulting sound will likely be deep, not raspy, and not intrusive in the cabin except when I misbehave.
Is the Magnaflow still a good bet with these goals in mind?
