I rebuilt the trans in my '88 1.5 years ago. I bought most of my parts from Jim at Sobstory, tho a few minor items were dealer only. Jim was knowledgeable and very helpfull in securing the proper parts. Bearings were name brand (Timken, BCA, etc), gaskets and seals were usually Scan-tech. Total cost with syncro's was about $500. I did not replace the layshaft, it it was in nice conditon, probably helped that the car was only a na 8 valve...So far I have 15k miles on the rebuild, and it still works!
