Phil, I'm an older guy just like you, I'm glad that I'm not alone:o) I agree with you on the fit and finish, just like I said earlier. I don't think our most recent Saab offerings have that much to brag about though. I approached this thread based strictly on performance. You can now buy a rally racecar with a bulletproof AWD setup, and 300hp for $28K! That's pretty darn cool if you are into high performance. Now, take your base 9-3SS or 9-5, and try to bring it up to that level of comparable performance,( and that would be everday *warranty* backed perfomance.) It would take a heck of a lot more than $28K. I guess the point I was trying to make is that our cars (when they were new) were very, very, expensive. The re-sale on them is less than desirable. If performance is all that you crave, I think the new Mitsu is a lot for the money, and it's bone stock! With the HUGE aftermarket support, the real "big power"(400+) would be easily obtainable for a lot less money than our big-buck, one-off parts. More importantly, you could actually get it to hook up that power to the ground. I don't think any amount of money could do that on my 900, my Aero or my 9-3! I do agree with you on your basic point that I still love my Saabs and I wouldn't part with them for anything. (Unless a WRX comes by in the paper in a few years for less than 10K!) I'm just kidding,...I think! :o)
