back in 85 when my brother was learning to drive & I was almost old enough my dad wanted something that was safe. We had a 84 Buick Century (compared to K-car) which ended up being a complete POS, totally fell apart at 40K. Once the buick fell apart my dad wanted something SAFE for my brother & I to drive in, he asked a good doctor/friend what he suggested & he stated SAAB. The friend was a professional race car driver at the time & competed in the Corvette challenge, he stated numerous times he has seen saabs roll over at the track & they just push them back on their wheels & they are off....VERY safe!
So we snagged a 86 900s which my brother still has. We had great luck with reliability & the car was in a few accedint which if we were in other cars it would of been a LOT worse. I tried a 86 GLi but the weak chassis & low quality made it faal apart at 125K. I then finally found the SPG I always wanted & I have owned 5 of them I think, some as parts cars & 3 of them as dail drivers.
I think the new cars also share the uniqueness, safety & fun factor that the old cars have thus I own a viggen as well.
