Kary,
The rust is primarily in the driver's side wheel well. Of course, that seats into the floor pan somewhere at some places but it's mostly there and a little bit along the base of the firewall. I want to nip it in the bud ASAP but I shouldn't need a new floor pan.
I'm all for any fix that will stop the rust where it is and get me back into shape! :) So far (knock-wood) my sill plates are solid. There is a tiny perforation in the middle that would require a little attention but I've hit it with rust converter and rust encapsulator to hold it at bay as long as possible.
$4-700 I can stomach --- thousands would kill me. I reaaaaaally wish there was a local tech school or community college that taught welding in my area. I'd take the class in a heartbeat. I've been searching forever, too, to no avail.
I'm going to try to take pictures this evening. They're not going to be pretty! Unfortunately, I won't be at Carlisle this year. My daughter has a dance recital on Saturday (she's 4) and we've got plans on Sunday that couldn't be rescheduled. There's always next year!
I haven't had the Sonett out AT ALL this year, yet. I put it up in the air again to bleed the brakes and, finally, fix the horn but haven't had 10 minutes to work on it. I'm going to try to find some time next week to get things buttoned up so I can get it back on the ground!
Thanks again for the suggestions!
-Eric
