After replacing the water pump twice (one unused pump had water pouring out of it like a sieve), replacing the expansion tube, replacing the hoses, having the radiator cleaned, soldered and repainted, I still struggle with the radiator cap problem.
I found that the Stant 10205, which has a 1 15/32 inch reach, works IF YOU SCREW IT ON FACING ONE DIRECTION, but not if it is facing the other. It seems to have to do with the spring. I'm guessing the cap is just barely seating and is probably not holding to a full 4 pound spec, but it seals the system and works driving around town.
So, this cap may be one solution to your overheating problem, if you have one in your sonett V4. Alternatively, I guess you could go with a flat cap, like on the 96, and add an external tank with a four pound cap.
