Brake light bulb equivalent options? Posted by NCCaniac [Email] (#352) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NCCaniac) on Mon, 21 Sep 2015 06:26:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
One of the brake lights on my '71 Sonett III burned out this last week and when I removed the old bulb, it was an 1156 bulb (26.9w, 12.8v) that had been used by the previous owner. The Sonett owners manual says the bulb should be a 21w 1073 bulb.
Checking with my local chain parts stores, nobody has the 1073 bulb in stock. I can find several suppliers online for a Philips or Sylvania 1073 bulb, but it lists them as 23w, 12.8v, not 21w as mentioned in the Sonett owners manual.
So, is it OK to use the higher wattage 1156 bulb which is readily available locally or do I need to order the 1073 bulb online?
