Welcome to the extra-quirky world of the Saab Sonett. I also am a newbie having bought my first Sonett, a 1974 model in "True Blue" in mid-late January. In the two months I have owned it I have not registered it yet. I have been working on making sure that everything is safe and functional. I think I now have most, if not all the electrical system working. The engine runs fine and strong but I discovered a leak from my clutch master cylinder so that is now getting my attention. My biggest issue will be the repair of the trunk floor rust and a couple of small holes in the driver's side floor. Good resources to check out besides saabnet which is excellent are saabsonett.org and vscna.org, the Vintage Saab Club Of North America. In addition, if you are on Facebook, do a search for Saab and/or Saab Sonett and you will find several discussion groups. skandix.com might also be of value to you. For some great really well-written manuals, rebuilt parts, and custom parts go to markashcraft.com. you definitely want to get the Sonett Workshop Manual Supplement which I think is downloadable on saabnet.com as well as the from two associations I noted above. Good luck! Enjoy your Sonett on the road now that the weather is getting better! Oh, one more thing you can post your photos to your Gallery associated with your membership here. Juan in Bristol, RI
