What is one man's loss will hopefully be another man's find. Over Memorial day weekend my 1974 Sonett III was crunched in an accident that damaged the front end. Insurance contacted me yesterday and informed that the car will be totaled out. I do not have the time, space or the resources to store the car and rebuild it where I live. The car has many good parts on it and I think it is rebuildable but would have a salvaged title. I have owned the car for the last 30 years and maintained it mostly myself with help from Bud Clark at J&B Imports. Bud rebuilt it for us back in the mid 80's. It has a custome gauge cluster (oil pressure gauge), CD changer, shaft style Pioneer Radio, Sonett AC, oil cooler, SAAB 2bbl manifold with Weber 2BBL 32/36 DGV5A carb, sonett springs all around, Koni shocks, front sway bar from a 96, MSD Pertronix ignition, Needle bearing rocker arms, steel balance shaft gear, 5 soccerball wheels (new spare tire), dual exhaust, cross drilled Sonett rotors, Ferodo pads, trans has always been good with Redline MTL and the freewheel works (used it all the time). I also have an aggressive cam that was removed from the car by Bud back in 2015 to make it easier to pass smog. At that time the bearings were replaced and the engine continues to be in good shape. I am happy to answer any questions about the car and hope that someone can use the car as a project or a parts queen to upgrade their project. The car is located at the insurance adjuster's storage facility in Phoenix, AZ. The address is 615 S. 51st Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85043; 602-484-7075. I plan to send the title to the insurance company tomorrow after which it should be released for salvage (donation, crusher or whatever) or sale if someone wanted to buy it. The situation is harder than I expected but my daughter is safe and it time to move on. I hope the car or at least parts of it can be put to good use. I have pictures of the damage should anyone want them. Thanks! Scott
