So removing the fuel pump does help a lot, but not enough.
The driver side pipe has to go up and in the hole by quite a lot before you rotate the passenger side pipe into position. Removing the fuel pump allows it to go further up and as it goes further up it also moves over toward the passenger side hole that the other pipe needs to insert through. However it doesn't go far enough, needs another 1/2" of travel.
