Just seeing your post... I was away for a few days. Did you have success?
If not, here are the options in no particular order.
1. Already mentioned- cut the horizontal pipe and put in a sleeve clamp. Done it myself a few times and it works fine.
2. Bash or pry the holes bigger. Seen this done on several Sonett's and 96's to get that last 1/4" clearance. Doesn't look great. Not my favorite- never done it.
2. Remove the bottom stud on the head and replace it with an allen head bolt. I do this on all my V4 Saabs and I love it! It can be a challenge to get that stud out though. Heating it with a torch works well as long as the threads are in good shape. Put on two nuts and tighten them together, heat it up pretty hot (like cherry red) and hopefully turn it out. I don't think I've used heat with the engine in the car- fuel line is RIGHT THERE.
