I've read (here) that this can be caused by wear in the inner driver cups -- apparently after long usage, there can be enough clearance to allow the driveshafts to vibrate slightly at high speeds. If you stick your finger into the slot in the cup, you often can feel a slight groove where the bearing on the driveshaft T piece contacts it.
The only thing I know about it personally is that I used to have a similar vibration in my Sonett III -- although probably not so drastic -- at speeds around 90mph (the only place I noticed it was at the end of the main straight at a race circuit where I sometimes go for open track days; in the USA it's hard to drive a weird-looking orange car at these speeds on the public roads without attracting official attention.)
Anyway, the last time I had the transaxle out, I swapped the inner drivers side-for-side, which puts the unworn face of the cup against the bearing, and this seemed to reduce the vibration quite a lot. Probably not worth pulling your driveline JUST to do that, but you might want to consider it next time you are doing a clutch or other driveline-out job.
