After driving several years without an emergency brake(no hills in Phoenix) I finally relocated it when I figured out that no emergency bakes meant no rear brakes at all. I shortened the cables at the wheel end. It wasn't too dificult. It definately has a better feel on the floor but sometimes I miss that quarkiness of having a sports car with column shift. The console and tunnel that comes with the shifter will work in the older Sonett. You just need to shorten the width of the tunnel. I think the pedals are located a little farther to the right in the older models.
