...As far as brakes, sounds like it might be a pad piston on the right. Needs rebuild or replace. I would flush the entire system, and if fluid moves freely out of the right, then you know the pistion is seized.
I would try 2 cans of Chevron Techron in the fuel, along with lead addiditive/replacement. I am told that the 1BBL carbs suck. I am not sure I believe it, but I am already swapping mine out. I am doing it as I have a 2 BBL carb and manifold.
I just began in ernest to address my car's engine bay. I coated with Simple Green, then pressure washed using hot water. Amazing how much crap and compost gets washed out! Bay is clean, rust is apparent, and I am gearing up to address it. Tomorrow or Saturday is manifold and carb swap day. With a clean engine I am not worried about getting grit inside the block. Given the effectiveness of pressure washing the bay with hot water and soap, might I sugggest you do this first before you get filthy trying to repair things? Had I done this prior to tackling my clutch master and slave my fingernails and hands might not be so dirty.
Just be careful with the pressure washer. It will rip hoses and the alternator belt, and it will foul the points unless you wrap the distributor in heavy plastic. If the points get wet, just open the cap, wipe things down, and let the car sit in the sun for a while.
