Quiet is not the word I would use to describe it; deafening if more apropriate :). The tone is low. Highgate used to advertise it with the slogan:"Makes your V4 sound like a TVR in heat!". I can't tell how the noise level is compared to a standard Sonett system with double pipes. There will probably be a difference caused by the rear mufflers; the Highgates are of the absorption type. When you drive the car and get to higher revs the most noise comes from the trunk of the car instead of from the engine; the trunk acts as a big resonator for these two rear mufflers. I guess that you will have the same with a standard exhaust. When you stand behind the car you notice that the sound waves are louder than when you stand aside. From aside the sound level is acceptable. All in all I think it sounds great. It adds to the fun of driving a Sonett. Highgate had the system produced at Ashley, a British exhaust producer.
