Hey Ben,
Here's what I can tell you, which isn't too much...
According to the Factory Sonett manual, the rear Sonett springs are:
- 7 1/2 coils of 0.4 inch wire diameter
- total length of 12.5 inch
- max spring expansion of 5.9 inch
And for the Saab 96 and Monte Carlo, the rear springs are:
- 9 coils of 0.43 inch wire diamter
- total length of 13.5 inch
- max spring expansion 6 3/4 inch
Now, what I can't tell you is the specs for a 2 stroke Monte Carlo- the above are for the V-4. I would expect that the front springs for a 2 stroke are lighter and the rears are the same, but I really don't know for sure.
I have heard of people putting in the 96 V-4 rear springs in the Sonett, and it seems like I've heard of some that use them and CUT a coil out of the springs. With that approach, you get a little stiffer spring and maintain the same ride height.
If it were me, I'd try fitting in the Monte springs you have. Undo the limit straps to make it easier...
