- 1979 Saab 900 EMS (Posted 12/7/2017) Share this Saab->
Color: Blue Trans: Manual Mileage: 89,000 Price: $6000
This is a beautiful example of Saab’s transition from the 99 to the 900. If you are a Saab nut you will love the one-year-only nuances of the early 900’s. This car has covered ~89,000 miles in its life. The B motor and original CIS run great. The fuel system was either cleaned or replaced, including the challenging metal baffled tank about 10K miles ago by Western Massachusetts Saab Maestro, Eric Nelson. It retains all of its stock components and shifts through its 4 speed gearbox effortlessly. The B motor combined with the 31/30 EMS primary gear-set makes this car feel light and sporty around town and able to maintain 65mph to 75mph on the highway effortlessly. This car has the 1 year only 900 EMS quick ratio manual steering rack and the soccer ball wheels are the cleanest non-restored wheels I have ever seen. This was the first year for Saab to do a metallic paint, with two choices of green or this car’s iceberg blue. The car is wearing all of its original paint and presents very well. All panels are straight and original. There are 4, 2 inch blemishes on the passenger side that can be seen in the photos. It also has a few places along the rear hatch chrome strip that can be seen in the pictures. I have kept the car waxed and preserved the current state over the past 10 years of ownership. The car has its one-year-only EMS grill and headlight surrounds intact. The turn signals and bumpers are the original pieces and still maintain the smaller white trim line along their centers that the later 900’s don’t have. This car is an incredible dry example and I think that any New England SAAB enthusiast would be transported to 79’ when looking at the originality and crispness of this car. The interior velour is complete with no tears. There is a dime size hole in the driver-side seat panel that is not noticeable but can be seen in photos. It has the rear headrests which are rare along with the period correct blue Saab floor mats that really complete the interiors time capsule feel. The heater valve is manually closed due to the fact I only drive in the summer.

Color: Red Trans: Manual Mileage: 226,000 Price: $2200
Car is in good running and driving condition. Engine and transmission are strong with no problems. This was my daily driver up until 2014. Since then, it has been more of a weekend driver. Paint is original, but clearcoat is badly peeling in some places. Needs new A/C compressor. Car was recently in a minor fender bender and got a little scraped up at the front on the driver's side. All it did was crack the headlight (which has since been replaced) and slightly ding the fender. The damage was purely cosmetic and caused no structural or mechanical problems. Have owned the car for almost 10 years and have absolutely loved it. Hate to see it go but unfortunately that's life right now. Have maintenance receipts from myself and previous owner going back to the late 90s to go with the car. Still drive it around town so mileage may go up a little. More photos available on request.

It is black with tan leather. Clear title, tinted windows, and minilite wheels. The transmission needs to be rebuilt. It won't go into 1st 2nd or 3rd gear. So it can't be driven, also it has been sitting for years and is dirty. Text me for more info.

Color: Black Trans: Manual Mileage: 152,500 ap Price: $4900
It pains me to do this, but I am putting my Saab up for sale. Virva is her name.
I've owned her for the past 10 years and she has been stored at my sister's
garage for the past 4 years. My sister moved and I lost storage, so I'd rather a
Saab enthusiast take her from here as I'm unsure when the next indoor storage
space will make itself available. This car had been pampered and loved. This is
a SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CAR, and moved with me to NY in 2010. Straight body and no
rust. No accidents, clean Carfax (available). Maintained with Walter Wong at The
Right Solution in LA, and Swedish Underground Auto and Star Motors in NY during
my ownership. ONLY Saab trained mechanics, and I have worked on this car for the
past 10 years except for new batteries by Pep Boys. I regularly changed the oil
and filter every 2-3k miles. New (not rebuilt) AC compressor needs recharging.
Rebuilt transmission less than 25k miles ago (I have the receipt), though it
occasionally pops out of 3rd and sometimes grinds a little into 1st. I briefly
go into 2nd, then 1st from a dead stop to avoid any crunching. Exterior has some
imperfect molding trim and some scuffs. Engine runs smooth, and turbo spools up
nicely. New shocks, rotors and pads within the last 20k miles. Car will need to
be registered and safety inspected by new owner, so will need to be towed away.
Let me be clear though, the car runs well. The car was stored because we bought
an Outback as our daily driver. Headliner needs to be replaced. Aftermarket
sound system installed with manual rocker switch for rear amps and speakers.
(includes Bazooka powered sub, 2 @ 6x9 Kenwood's and 2 @ 4" Infinity's and
Kenwood head unit). Dash has some cracks, dashboard has wood upgrade. Tires will
need to be replaced, antennae mast was replaced (works in and out). Speedometer
broke, so it was replaced with a unit which had 30,000 less miles on it, hence
the approximate mileage. All gauges functioning correctly. ABS light is on but
has not affected braking power. Heater core was replaced and is a proper Swedish
furnace once again. Rebuilt washer pump and wiper motors. Original paint, still
looks shiny and nice when cleaned up. This is a good solid car, not a showpiece
by any means, but mechanically sound, great body and it still gets conversations
started and thumbs up. Extras include a soft car cover, Thule roof rack with
locks and Thule crank straps, a box of miscellaneous items like oil filters,
vacuum hoses, new spark plugs, lamps etc. My loss is someone's big gain here.
Serious inquiries only, and only via email. Carfax report available.

Color: Edwardian Gray Metallic Trans: Manual Mileage: 149,840 Price: $2,500
My brother and I just got finished bringing an 86 flat nose SPG back to life
that he found in a parking garage in Denver. The interior is what you would
expect of a 30 year old SAAB with 150,000 miles. The car is surprisingly tight
with very little in the way of rattles and drives true and straight. The
transmission appears to be rebuilt and feels really good. The gears shift smooth
with good syncs throughout and no noise. We refreshed the clutch over the
weekend. Motor is really strong considering it is not even getting close to the
red on the boost gauge. We spent some time trying to get the APC working to no
avail. It is boosting to base boost and is still fast!! Brakes are as good as
they get. I've personally owned 2 86 SPG's and countless other SAABS and this is
a good one with loads of potential, it would be a great candidate to be taken to
the next level or just driven the way it is for years to come, it is a true
survivor. Car comes with lots of original paperwork including all manuals
etc. and has its original unused complete took kit! The car is located at my
brother's in Bailey CO a mountainous suburb of Denver CO.

Color: Citrin Beige Trans: Manual Mileage: 170,000 Price: $9,000
I have owned this 900 Turbo since 1999 when I was 18. I am the second owner. The car has a red APC box, SPG body panels, whale tale, built-in (retro) radar detector, grey leather seats. The headliner is new and does not sag. The car has a working Thule rack with bike mounts and although the dash is in rather good condition, I have a second UNCRACKED dash in mint condition that I will send off with the car. The car had a new transmission around 100k and I have all the service records since I bought the car from Clews and Strawbridge Saab in PA back in college. I think 20 years of ownership is quite the run and I am looking to pass her on to a new owner who will love, care and enjoy this Saab as much as I have.

Low Mileage 1993 Saab 900 S Sedan 4-Door 2.1L. VIN: YS3AK46EXP2000524. No rust, no accidents, no smoking (still smells like leather) and garaged it's entire life until the past year after it was gifted to a granddaughter. Functioning cruise control, A/C, pristine tan leather seats. Engine looks and runs great; fires right up and solid on the road. New water pump, primary belt, muffler, harmonic balancer, original manuals in a SAAB pouch. Rear headliner is sagging but not torn. Recently started occasionally losing reverse. Had the transmission bands adjusted and remains drivable, but foreshadows a new transmission. The reason we are selling is because of this repair - and the love required to maintain it - exceeds granddaughter's budget. Car is based in Tallahassee. More recent photos available; email for info.

Color: Edwardian Gray Trans: Manual Mileage: 326,455 Price: $2,000 OBO
Recommended for a thorough going restoration..., or as a parts car, this SPG is worn but complete. When I parked it not quite 2 years ago it was running but rough, and it will need a tune-up. As you know, the engine is a 16 valve turbo; this one has been running synthetic lubricant in the crankcase for the past 200K with all the benefits of synthetic: runs cooler, wears less, and therefore the engine pulls well. Turbo replaced perhaps 100K ago. It had been my reliable driver since I purchased it from its 4th owner at about 125K, shortly after he had replaced the transmission. The transmission shifts well and does not pop out of gear. This SAAB came with a leather interior OEM that had already been "allowed to dry out" by the time that I received the car. The rear of the passenger compartment is in much better shape than the front, it even has the board that tops the baggage compartment, although that board could use a new cover. In the front of the passenger compartment ... driver's seat has a vertical cut on the left edge ... And of course the dashboard has the usual several cracks. So..., power steering, windows, mirrors, moonroof (seldom used), radio - with power antenna, speedometer and odometer, windshield wipers, cruise control, heated front seats (in season),... all were working as they should. This SAAB has A/C, the A/C works, and the refrigerant was up-graded (to make it more environmentally correct) about June 2015. This SAAB has never been in an accident, but it has been "around the block" so the exterior has a few minor dings. The paint protective coating is starting to shed. This SAAB lived in the extended Bay Area, had little or no exposure to highway salt, and so has very little body rust. The wheels are the original "Three Spoke" design; the tires, Michelins, lightly worn. The OEM "whale tail" is still in place, as are all of the SPG aerodynamic panels - air dams and fairings. Was a very reliable car, gently used by me and well maintained by Chuck and Tim of Parker Automotive in Mountain View, CA, until they went out of business. Will need to be flat-bedded away; ignition switch is frozen. Single title. All reasonable offers considered.

Second Owner, the Original owner picked up from Sweden. Kept in great condition, little surface rust under the doors. Original factory paint. Amazing interior with cotton seats. Only 2 dash cracks. Working sunroof. Working original SAAB stereo. Original rims with new rubber all the way around. New exhaust system including the catalytic converter. Headliner is done Professionally. New rear brake pads, rotors, and calipers. Front brakes in excellent condition. Type IV brake fluid used. New front and rear shocks. Transmission shifts impeccable. Cruise control works very well, dash lights are LED. New Heater valve from Skandix. A clock is working accurately. Non-Smoker. I am Willing to deliver it Continental USA, I love driving this car if only to pay for one way ticket back and gasoline used. Not too bad things: Trunk has dent due to reverse accident from the original owner, he blamed the daughter. Now, this is a great transportation car, I am not looking for the perfectionist or picky person, just someone who wants to enjoy driving this car without spending nothing extra. The previous owner loves it and told me to pass the car to a person who really can take care of this baby.

Bought this car as a simple project, but I don't have time to do. The reason I bought the car, is the last owner replaced the muffler, timing chain, and head gasket. When I got her, wiper and brakes are almost not working and idle is not consistent, so I bought her so cheap. When the engine starts, it needed to be pushed the accel pedal to run the engine continually, after around 3 mins, idle become quite good. During driving, the engine is great. After I got her, I did, valve cover gasket, spark plugs, spark wires, vacuum hoses, wiper links, wiper motor, and master cylinder. Engine and tranny are working properly for its age, but because of brakes, needs to be towed. Clean Michigan title in hand. Body is quite clean. I can send more picture when you ask.

Leather interior, Saab 16" Super Aero Alloys, includes lots of parts including lights, Bentley Repair Manual. This car has been maintained true to original; parts are original or authentic Saab replacements, maintenance records available. This has been a show car, in very good visual condition. This was my commuting car until about two years ago. Stopped driving due to rust on the frame; this will require a replacement of the left front section. One tire is flat, spare is mounted, will need new tires. This is a great car for someone who loves this model as I do, but has time and expertise to maintain, which sadly, I do not. Has not been started for about two years, not sure about running condition.

Color: Red Trans: Manual Mileage: 194,000 Price: $6000
Previous owner told me that he replaced the gauge cluster which would put it at about 130k now but I have not been able to verify. This was a California car brought to New England 2 years ago. The two winters it has been here, it has not been driven and has been stored in a barn. This car has never seen salt and it shows, there is absolutely no rust to be found anywhere on it. The downside of the California car is the faded paint. The hood has been repainted at some point and I had the roof repainted. There are still areas of sunfade on the driver's side as viable in the photos. I elected to not have the whole car painted to preserve most of the original paint and because I worried that I would not get a good result without spending thousands. As long as the car is waxed a couple of times a year, everything matches great and it really shines. Mechanically it runs good, it has the SPG APC and boosts up to 12 psi but otherwise the car is stock. The AC does not work although it did last year. The system is charged but the compressor doesn't engage and it didn't dive any farther into it. Sunroof and all windows work, there are no warning lights on, and the ABS brakes work well. This car also comes with a large cache of parts salvaged from a very well running 1990 SPG which has to be scrapped due to terminal rust, as well as another SPG I had access to. This includes but is not limited to: Engine which has been separated into head and block. This was covered in fluid film and shrinkwrapped. Transmission which was very solid when removed, also covered in fluid film and wrapped. The SPG was boosted to 18 psi, and everything to do this is included: Jak Stoll chip, upgraded fuel pressure rail and injectors, upgraded fuel pressure regulator, and tuned APC. I chose not to mess with this car, but the SPG was extremely fast. (2) mitsubishi turbos. Louvers for rear window (no mounting kit). Lights. Extra ABS system. Many interior pieces. Look through the photos, but if it was functioning and could be removed from the cars I have it.

Heated seats. Moonroof. Tinted windows. New water pump, fuel pump, and CV axles. Tires in great shape. If you are wanting a 900, this is the one. I no longer have a garage to keep my 900 out of the weather and I’m short on space in my driveway, so (sadly) the Saab needs to go. Lovely old Saab, Wasabi is her name. With the back seat down it can fit a full
sized futon for camping which is wonderful. With the hatchback open, you can
move a couch. The body of Wasabi is excellent and it runs like a top. Recently
received a pre-sale checkup by Troll Motors with a thumbs up. It has a manual
skylight and a trailer hitch. Last month , Troll motors rebuilt the clutch
that's that's a huge investment So here are the things that aren't so perfect:
Passenger window motor needs replacement, just replaced the driver side so it is
good to go. Auto seat belts don't work so you do them manually, headliner is
pinned up to the ceiling. I have to give her up, tearfully, because I have too
many cars. With the new work, I am asking price above.

Dash has been recovered which really helps the overall look, headliner fine. Master and slave cluctch cylinders, clutch, have been replaced, heater core valve and exhaust as well. Almost new front tires. If it needed I fixed it.
- 1985 Saab 900 Turbo SPG (Posted 9/16/2017) SOLD
Color: Black Trans: Manual Mileage: 165,000 Price: $3000
Selling my '85 900 SPG. Owned for 7 years. Nice original flatnose, black/tan interior. A great driver with numerous new parts, including tires, brakes, rebuilt turbo, water pump, exhaust (mostly new)--all of which has been done in past 5k miles. Transmission is quite good - doesn't pop out in any gear. Headliner was replaced a few years ago and has no issues. Dash has cracks of course, AC was removed as it didn't work. Has a front mount intercooler and an improved air intake. Certainly not perfect, there are small dings here and there, clear coat separating on driver rear quarter panel, one rust spot in the front driver wheel well--things like that. Needs a few minor bits (front driver turn signal lens has a crack across the top, turn signal lever doesn't stay up for right turn, etc..). But all in all it's a great fun car. Sad to see it go--just not driving it enough these days.
- 1984 Saab 900 (Posted 9/15/2017) SOLD
Color: Red Trans: Automatic Mileage: 50,000 Price: $1900
1984 Saab 900 Flatnose sedan. Automatic with a Borg Warner 3 speed. Runs good. Newer tires, paint job, all recent oil changes with synthetic. Garaged for most of its life. Most everything currently works, including original radio (odometer stopped working a few years ago). Newer muffler, new CV joint driver side, new water pump, new heater control arm, leather seats that came out of an 1988 SPG. Stuff that it needs someday: a tune up; passenger side CV joint is leaking a bit; 1 small patch of rust under the passenger side door that should be addressed at some point; and you might want to replace the engine mounts at some point for a smoother ride.
- 1992 Saab 900 Turbo (Posted 9/8/2017) SOLD
Color: Green Trans: Manual Mileage: 240,000 Price: $2,500
We have owned this 1992 900 turbo for a year and are the third owners. This car is in superb mechanical condition and drives beautifully. Garaged for the past year. Before 2016 was a Colorado car. Small rust spot over the passenger side wheel arch. We have replaced the steering rack(2016), new tires (2016), new battery (2016), installed a new ABS brake accumulator(2017), replaced brake light switch (2016), reupholstered the driver side front seat (2017), repaired the seat motors on the driver's side (2017), replaced passenger window motor (2017). AC blows cold and has been converted. Transmission shifts smooth. Turbo has good pressure. The previous owner installed a new headliner. An OEM stereo has been installed but has a security code issue that seems to be specific to this Saab. (The OEM stereo works in other Saabs). Cosmetically, the car is in fair condition - the Scarabe Green paint is cracking on the hood pretty significantly from UV damage but the rest is okay. The interior is very clean. Carpeting is good, dash has some cracks. Overall, this car is fantastic. We have kept it extremely clean - and have gone over it with a fine tooth comb. It's just time for us to devote more energy to our other Saabs. Current Colorado inspection and registration. Car available for viewing/driving in Marion, MA.

Little rust - some near back end trunk area. Headliner good- replaced several years ago, Leather drivers seat (original) worn, other leather seats not torn. Basic maintenance performed during lifetime - complete repair/maintenance records and the original window sticker. Oil changed very regularly. Brake fluid maintained regularly. Coolant flushed every couple of years, radiator and most of the cooling system renewed along with front axle repacked and CV joint replacement several years ago. Turbo functions (base boost only - needs spring). Transmission replaced at 130K. AC disconnected, oil cooler removed. Power mirrors, heated seats, gas gauge, tachometer not working. Current PA state inspection (good until March 2018). Almost everything original except for radio and antenna. Car runs nicely.
