I did a similar post about a week and a half ago. Here is the link and everyone's responses.

Also, I ended up purchasing the Mich. X-Ice ($119.00 tire per from tire rack with $48.00 wheels for 16") which is the 2004 version of the Artic Alpine (geared for snow/ice, not a performance tire). I have about 500 miles on them so far, and we have only had one minor snow day in that time. The first 400 miles it felt as though they were sitting in a teflon coating as braking and performance were poor until the coat wore off (I guess). Now they are OK, but I am awaiting the snow to truly see.
They are a VAST change for the Pirelli performance tires on the car at stock so be prepared! However, last year I felt like a duck in oil in the snow, so hopefully this year will be a big improvement.
