17" wheels and snow cables etc.
The diameter of the tires fitted to 17" wheels is not really different than those of 16" wheels. The tread may be wider. Turn the wheels to the steering lock while rolling, stop and shutdown. Now reach in and feel cleanances to inner and outer fenders on both side and see whats there. I don't think that cables or chains are recommended for any earlier 9-3s. Might be the same for any of the new 9-3s. If your Aero rides lower, that is reduced snow clearance and maybe less room in the fenders as well.
