Cadillac BLS production (starting in late 2005 or early 2006) is suppose to go to Trollhatten as a bone for giving up much larger 9-3 production in 2008.
Another set of bean counters will determine European delivery. Currently Jaguar/Ford and VW (and I think Audi/VW) do not have European delivery. Porsche European delivery actually costs more (no discount + airfare is on your own). However, Volvo/Ford has European delivery.
The way it is now, as Roger in LA said, 9-3 Convertibles are made in Austria (no longer in Finland) and shipped to Sweden. European delivery of the convertibles is free in Trollhattan but if you pick it up in Munich or Vienna, you have to pay an extra fee. The fee is quite hefty for Vienna.
Canadian bean counters do not have a viable European delivery program. I think you have to pick up the car in Halifax, NS, even if you live in British Columbia! Australian bean counters force you to pick up European delivery SAAB's at one of the 4 main ports. This is not too bad as most SAAB's are sold in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, or Perth. Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart folks, tough luck.
