This is a question for which only dealers may know answer. I just leased '04 Vert (love it). There was a campaign to replacce some seats that may be "unsafe." Not a recall. My passenger seat is affected. Doesn't seem that there is a great safety problem but who knows. My dealer is 100 miles away so he suggested I go to local dealer (who was more than a little mad that he lost sale). Campaign is from Dec, '03 so it should have been fixed a long time ago but my dealer says it just turned up on computer. Local dealer says that once he opens a ticket on this campaign he "can't" give me my car back and it will take two to four weeks or some unknown longer time to get seat made. Loaner will be from Enterprise Rent a car not Saab (even if I got the car from him). I left. It will be in the sixties tomorrow in the cold north and I want my vert. My dealer far away is being very helpful but it means two trips. Is the local dealer giving me the runaround or is the selling dealer at fault for not fixing this before sale (Jan '05)? I was told by local dealer that the car should not have been sold. I was told by Saab customer service on the phone that I did not have to leave my car. BTW, Going to New Orleans with the vert in about a week. Another reason I want the car. I bought this car because it was the perfect color (steel) and options (all) and not because of the price and these guys don't trade cars anymore. I bought one CPO Saab and had two Saabs serviced at the local dealer so not new customer. Sorry it was so long.
