Says right in the gas flap premium recommentd and minimum 87, which means in high altitude states you might need mid-grade to meet the 87 octane requirement as regular becomes 85 octane in Denver for example. You'll get about 10% less power, but the car will run fine.
No hard proof, but many folks find they get better fuel econonmy on premium. That's supposed to be chemically impossible, but the Trionic engine management seems to be able to optomize the combustion process for better effeciency and hence better mileage. It happens to me im my 9-5 Aero, I seem to get about 1-2mpg better on premium which pays part of the difference. I myself notice the power difference on regular, but I drive fast.
