Depending on where in the country you are has a lot to do with lead time. The vehicle itself takes only a short while to be assembled, while the majority of the time its in transit from Sweden. (the ship stops in New Jersey, somewhere in the South East, and I think goes south through the Panama canal, than up to Los Angeles)
As far as info from the dealer, when the car is VIN assigned, it will give an approximate delivery date to dealer, that is usually accurate within a day.
Ask for the expected delivery date, then sit tight until the car gets in. I understand your excitement regarding your new car, just remember that the salesman who sold this car (and the dealer) will make the same money as someone who walks in and buys out of stock, so he/she is currently focusing on selling cars. And you do not need the VIN until the car arrives.
Where I am an order takes roughly 3 months, and I give my clients a call each 3 weeks, just to stay in touch. Nothing changes each three weeks though, car is always on schedule, delivery date the same.
