The new SAABS are nice but it is clear that some of the details are more mainstream at expense of function. Window switches should be in the center console not on the armrest like now, weather radio should still be included, Compared to the last 9-3's - there are some bling bling things about the dashboard, older SAABS were all business, no bling. The whole arc, linear, vector naming thing sounds decidedly Americanized. Buttons on the steering wheel that don't do anything are annoying. Other details like night panel and rear fog light are retained and the cooled glovebox is a nice new detail.
That said, my 04 Arc Conv, is a much nicer handling car than either of my other older 9-3's while retaining a European feel. Styling is a personal matter, I think the new one looks at least as good, but I think the fenders should flair a bit more to give it a more powerful look. The build quality seems better now. My 04 was in the shop 1 time since I have had it (14K miles) while both my other 9-3's older style were in the shop numerous times for minor fixes. I would like to see a 3 door or at least a 2 door version to battle againt the 3 series coupe.
