Dont like the lag in the 4's, so Saab puts in a V6. Now you say the engine bay is too tight. Right.
Need a revised suspension to become competitive? Mmm Hmm.
Despite the best crash test ratings in the history of this car segment, and 28mpg, and an M6 or an A6, and the kickass price tag, And a SR with no charge, and a roomier interior than the vast majority of others, And a hundred other things that SAAB does that no-one else did (or copied SAAB), despite ALL THIS, "Saab is so close with this car, but they just won't finish the job." Way to go Darrell. Nail on the head. Too bad they didn't call you for your input. I'm sure you were with the Ford SVT guys, or Saleen, or taking the fries out of the fryer or something.
Think this through. Why would a car manufacturer Mass produce a vehicle that is made for the track, and too much of a sports car for every day driving. First, they wouldn't sell, second, they wouldn't sell. SAAB made a pseudo-sports car that is just humble enough to be an every day vehicle. What does that leave us with? An Awesome car, that is safe for the fam, and offers a thrilling driving experience. And its great on gas in these dry times. You know what I think? PERFECT. They'll sell, and people will RAVE.
Want crazy performance? Buy a Viper, or a Vette.
