True, I'm sure they would give me better control, and more control is always better, but with good driving, more caution, and less expectations from my tires, I've successfully avoided losing control except for one instance fourteen years ago when I was 20 years old and spun out, (but that was in Syracuse, NY where they get a lot more snow than we do). So, all I mean to say is that snow tires definitely improve winter driving, but they aren't necessary. I do want to put snows on my '97 900 S next winter, just have to find some reasonably priced ones.
