Interstate 94 over the prairies of eastern Montana is the perfect place for such an assessment, if there such a place at all other than a race track (the only honest answer is no, there no other place than a race track, of course).
Confessing my sins, and reveiling the absolute pleasure of my limited foray into really high speed driving, I'll share with you that my '03 Arc (with sport suspension, 17" wheels, Pirelli P-Zero Rossos, rear spoiler)easily reached 132 m.p.h last summer on my annual trip back home to North Dakota. With no trees, curves, or cars in sight, and with my radar detector on, it flew from 100 to 132. I can't remember exactly, but I believe the tach was at about 4,500 r.p.m.
I've seen a top speed of 155 posted in some rags for the 03's with 210 h.p. Given my experience, I'm sure that's a reachable speed.
I must say the car was unbelieveably stable. It blew me away...
