Bought a used 2003 Saab 93 Linear, sweet vehicle, great condition with 33k miles on it. However, had to buy 2 new tires and my local very trustworthy non-Saab tire/brake shop had a couple pretty good tires at a fantastic price so I bought them. They told me the brake pads and rotors had to be replaced, were very thin. Soon there-after, I got the job done. (closest Saab dealer over 2 hours drive away)
However, ever since the brakes were replaced, when driving slow enough, I can ear what sounds like a scraping sound coming from the front (Rt > Lt) wheel area. When I apply the brakes, the sound goes away. I assumed it had to do with the brakes so I had the same shop take a look at the brakes, wondering if something was loose or not fitted properly. I was told that everything was fine and over time the sound would go away as the 2 components that rub together each time the wheel/tire goes around wear down. I was, and still am stupefied. If I didn't know the shop owner and workers so well and trust them from years of knowing them professionally and personally, I would have probably been rude and laughed at their ignorance, and stormed out.
Interestingly, b/c the local autopart shops didn't have the correct parts, the components for the brake job was actually bought from the closest Saab dealer/service center and shipped overnight to us for my 93. Still, I feel that this still can't be right.
