I have been running the BSR PPC in an '03 9-3 Arc 2.0T w/6 speed in everything from extreme cold to extreme heat. There have been absolutely no issues and the driveability is as good as or better than the factory engine management software. Your trusted mechanic sounds as though he was making some really off the wall comments to you, without any expertise on the subject whatsoever (windows not working? come on now...). If he is a dealer mechanic and knows you are going to install this update, are you aware that the BSR software is not supported by Saab USA and could void your warranty if it is detected? There is an optional drivetrain warranty offered in Sweden but not here in the states. That being said, the power increase is quite noticeable and works very well with the other attributes of the car (handling, etc.).
