We spent a few days in Stockholm in Gamla Stan (old town) visited a number of musuems the high-light being the Vasa ship musuem. A friend here in Minnesota hooked us up for lunch at the home of a cousin of his but they cancelled due to the flu...needless to say we were disappointed.
We flew to Goteburg and were transported to the Ronnum Manor. After checking in we were treated to a 5 course gourmet meal, it doesn't get much better...The next morning after breakfast we were again transported to the dealership for delivery of the new SAAB, Monica greeted us and spent 1 1/2 hours going over the car and paperwork, very professional, the car was perfect and she released us to go to the museum and the factory. I took a number of photos at the museum as I ice raced a SAAB 93 here in MN years ago and also had a model 96 sport with the 3 banger 2 stroke motor, which happened to be the best Winter driving car I ever drove. After the factory tour we were on the road to Norway and spent a night in a B&B in a small town. The owner has a number of relatives here in MN and ND. Then on to Oslo and more walking, eating, shopping and of course more museums. On to Notodden, Norway and some of my cousins whom I just met. We were all over Telemark and Tinn counties seeing the home farms, the Stav church from the 13th century and the highlight the Vermork power plant that the Allys blew up during WW2, it made heavy water for the German Atomic project. A whole lot of history. A movie was made about it, The Heros of Tekemark with Kirk Douglas. Any how after a big family dinner it was off to Goteburg to drop off the car for shipment home. Again very professional, I just wish they took the cars for shipment home on weekends. We then took a taxi to the Hotel Eggers and again shopped, visited museums and enjoyed the city.
I took a lot of photos but am unable to link them to the site.
