When should I change my battery?

I have a 2004 Linear with 38K. I drive it one weekend a month maybe 250-400 miles. I have the original battery which hasn't given me any reason to change it as of yet. After reading the post below about the jump start horror story, I'm wondering how long the factory installed battery will last. My last Saab, a 99 9-3, lasted exactly 4 years. Died on the hottest day of the year. That car had well over 100K on it at that point of it's life. Any thoughts?
