My '04 Arc 2.0T Conv (5 spd MT) would get 28 mpg on my "mixed" commute and 32-33 on pure highway - hard to criticize that.
My new '08 Aero Conv, 6 spd MT, engine is still tight, is is getting about 23-24 on my mixed commute, not enough of a trip yet to see how it does pure highway, I would guess a tick or two under 30 but maybe better as miles pile on and engine breaks in.
Is there too much GM in SAAB? Maybe a little bit, I miss some of the details and ergonomics I had on my '99 and '01 9-3's. Window switches should be in the console, the weather radio was nice, and on the '08 I miss the auto preset function on the radio the seek function on the steering wheel. But my '04 9-3 was the most reliable SAAB I have ever driven and other than the '08 Aero, the best driving one so maybe having GM fully involved is not all bad.
