This is my fourth Saab -- had two in the 70s and swore I'd never have another. Wound up buying an '03 9-3 which had a few minor electronic glitches initially but was then outstanding. Drove it 40K miles and traded for the '06 9-3 Aero sedan (silver).

At 26K miles, this car has been virtually faultless, requiring only a quick re-programming of the window lifts because of oversensitive pinch sensor, and subsequent replacement of the the brake pressure sensor because of an intermittant loss of power assist on cold start. The new sensor fixed that problem. Coolant overflow tank fixed in a routine service. No problems with badge peeling on either car.

I am a moderately aggressive driver, I guess, and I find the Saab provides excellent performance and handling, and -- as I noted -- very satisfactory fuel consumption.

Being a lifelong auto enthusiast, long-ago small-time autocrosser, and owner of a number of high-performance American cars, plus Audi, BMW, and Mercedes, I find the Saab meets most or all of my automotive criteria. It is a somewhat under-rated automobile in my opinion. I lived in the U.K. for a period, and have travelled extensively in Europe. Saabs are more highly valued over there, I think, and are frequently chosen as fast, economical highway cruisers. I think the car compares favorably with similar models from the major European manufacturers.

One thing that seems to make a substantial difference here is the dealer, and dealer prep. I have an outstanding dealer, and many of the problems that show up on this site could be related to poor dealer pre-delivery inspection (PDI). My car was delivered to me in sparkling, faultless condition and has remained virtually faultless.

Glad to hear you are enjoying yours; I sure do enjoy mine.
