The G-8 is a larger car than the 9-3SS and is 100% designed (and built?) by Holden in Australia. It sits on a rear wheel drive platform. This platform may be the one to be tweaked for the next generation 9-5, or the new 9-5 may be based upon a different rear-wheel/all-wheel drive platform.
The G-6 is a variant of GM's global front-wheel-drive Epsilon platform, as is the 9-3SS.
