BSR is a tuner that is outside of the Saab family

BSR is a for profit company that does a fair bit of testing etc. on their tunes. They want to sell one tune per car just as microsoft wants only one version of office installed per sale.

Each tune is matched to your cars specific vin and is not transferable... pretty smart actually.

Some speculation has been made that Saab didn't want the 9-3 to be quicker or more powerful than their flagship 9-5 aero...

There may be many other reasons as well

More power = more heat and more strain on mechanical components that may fail during the warranty period = more cost to GM

They are also likely trying to bring up Saabs reliability ratings etc. and more warranty claims from someone hotrodding their v6 all day long wouldn't help that

All that being said I personally accept all responsibility for future breakage from the BSR tune if it happens to occur... as with most things in life more fun comes at an additonal cost of some sort.

If I put a dollar in a jar for every grin I get driving the car since the BSR tune I would be at $200 in less than a week.

I would guess that any fuel savings from the BSR tune will be offset by your right foot.... but if that was your concern you would be driving a Yaris or Prius
