AeroPaul's advice regarding new speakers may be the only option you have.
The 2006 models utilized a fibre-optic system for distributing the audio signal throughout the car, so you have to retain the fibre-optic amplifiers. Saab went back to standard wiring with the 2007 models, and the few folks who have done magnificent audio upgrades have done so on the 2007 and later cars.
What are you requesting from the audio system? More highs? More bass? Less road noise? I assume you have the sub-woofer hiding in the spare tire well on your SC.
