When it comes to turning in the car, the dealer doesn't really care either way. The finance company (GMAC) owns the car, and only they can lower the buyout price. According to the dealer, in the past this almost never happened - but these days it is possible to get a "residual adjustment". If i turn it in, it goes to auction (first platinum dealers only auction, then made available to other dealerships and used auto sales companies).
As for pitting two dealers against each other, I am going to try .. problem is no one even remotely close to me has a 2008 9-3 Aero in black w/manual trans -- my local dealer is getting the car from an out of state dealer. I don't know how much profit margin there is for me to negotiate.
Press releases indicate that General Motors is bringing back leases this Spring/Summer for select cars - not sure if Saab will be one of them (or if GM will still own Saab at that point) ..
