Bought my '03 9-3SS linear in February 2003. I love the car and it has been a pretty good car. I've got about 75,500 miles on it. Bought another car last year and have been debating about whether to get rid of one of the cars. Have had all the recalls/bulletins addressed on this 9-3 and all maintenance done at SAAB dealer. As much as people have commented on the issues with the '03 model year, this really has been a very good/reliable car until very recently.
In the past few weeks, the check engine light has come on (stayed on) twice-- first time was SAI valve, latest was an oxygen sensor. I got to the drive the car a total of 5 times in between the two check engine light occurrences. In between, also found a bit of oil that had leaked onto the driveway (first time ever) and that turned out to be "seal vacc pump" according to the invoice. I do have the extended warranty that will run until next February (thank goodness), which has covered all but the deductible for these repairs and a window regulator.
I'm the first to admit that I'm not mechanically inclined. Am wondering if others think that this recent increase in car problems is typical of a SAAB this age, whether these specific issues are pointing toward a more major underlying problem, etc.
Any input and perspective is welcome. Thanks.
