I'm back at SaabNet after an absence (formerly BristowBob)...and glad to be back! I still have my '05 93 Linear (paid off!), and a Mazda5 that I really don't like. My wife and I were considering trading the '08 Mazda5 because we love the 93 so much, and want to keep it. We are looking at Passat wagons now that we transport our dog in a crate to visit family in NJ. I had a revelation this evening - what if I traded the paid off 93 for a new '09 93 SportCombi? On pulling up the Saab corporate and dealer websites, I was astounded at the current offers. I know, Saab is just about gone, thanks to GM (but I won't go there for now). Between my trade and the current allowances, the SC would be a great deal. I contacted my sales rep at International Saab here in NoVA today and plan to meet with him tomorrow. I have a lot of questions, like does the GM 100k warranty still hold? Will the dealer be around for at least a few more years as a service point? Etc., etc. Question to all my Saab-loving compatriates: Am I smart or just plain old insane? Buying a wagon is not new - I've been doing the research for a few months now, but the SC idea is new this evening. The best part is that I would still have a Saab...hopefully for several more years.
