What has worked for me....... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 6 Mar 2010 14:32:53 In Reply to: Changing the hood emblem?, londonlad, Sat, 6 Mar 2010 11:13:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So far I have changed one front and one rear emblem on my 2000 9-5, and one rear emblem on my wife's '06 9-3SC.
I placed a double thickness of masking tape on the hood, extending it under the lip of the badge. I did this on both sides of the badges.
I used a folder towel to prevent marring of the sheetmetal and carefully pried the badges off the car.
The only marks left were two small nicks in the soft aluminum ring surrounding the rear badge on the hatch of the SC. No marks on the hood or trunk where surrounding metal is steel.
